Aftercare

  • Keep the treated area clean and dry. Gently clean the area with mild soap and warm water. Pat the area dry with a clean towel or allow it to air dry.
  • Your skin may have irritation after each laser tattoo removal treatment. It is not unusual for the treated area to have redness, blood blisters under the skin, some bleeding, or bruising. You can apply an antibiotic cream or Aquaphor® and keep the area lightly covered with a clean, breathable gauze.
  • Protect the area from sun exposure. Shield the treated area from direct sunlight using clothing or a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF.
  • If you see indications of an infection, use an antibiotic ointment as directed on the label and keep the area lightly covered with a clean, breathable gauze.
  • If your tattoo develops blisters, do not pop or scratch. Let them heal naturally. They will generally be gone within 7 to 10 days. Keep the area clean by washing with warm water and a gentle soap a couple of times per day. You can use an antibiotic cream or Aquaphor® and keep the area lightly covered with a clean, breathable gauze.
  • Itching is a sign of skin healing. If needed, take an over-the-counter allergy pill to reduce itching, such as Benadryl®, Allegra®, or Clartin®. You can also apply an antibiotic cream or Aquaphor® to the affected area 2 to 3 times per day.
  • Avoid scratching or picking at the treated area to prevent infection and scarring.
  • Avoid excessive heat and sweating. Steer clear of hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, and intense physical activities that cause excessive sweating for a few days. Heat and sweat can delay healing.
  • Do not apply makeup or perfumed products until it is fully healed.
  • Be patient and allow time for healing. Healing times vary, and it may take several weeks for the treated area to fully heal.
